A journey to MoTown

Thanks to my amazing friends and colleagues, I was able to raise £131 for Movember in aid of prostate cancer, before the deadline and so this morning the tash of destiny had to be donned. Of course in honour of the facial fur I decided to go for a conservative outfit of grey dress, red leopard print tights, my blue and purple tartan coat and red tartan scarf… he he… as Mich says, “clashing is in!”

I was expecting my stroll to Earlsfield Station and the subsequent journey on the overland and underground to create quite a stir. I forgot how used to the bizarre the average Londoner is. While I got a couple of odd looks for the most part no one stared. In fact most people made a concerted effort not to make eye contact with me and quite a number of people wouldn’t stand next to me on the train. Whoo-hoo, space! I might wear the tash everyday!

In my office, I am being hailed as something of a legend but the true legends are the boys in my team who have been sporting their mo’s for a whole month as well as all the men who have battled and beaten prostate cancer. You guys rock HARDCORE! Also a special thanks to Mich who helped me document my journey.

This is a little video of me and Mich on the train from Earlsfield to Waterloo. Notice how no one will look at me…

You can view all the photos here.

There is still time to donate to this worthy cause and to vote for your favourite (natural) tash so make your contribution now!

  2. Awesome tash Abs!:) I love how everyone avoided eye contact on the train :) Very impressive fundrasing, well done:)

  3. Hurrah! Impressive fundraising and an even more impressively suave look :P

(I too love the London spirit, even though it has its dark sides. The other day I was rushing somewhere when a man fell off his bike and started shouting in pain… I kept walking (I was in a rush!) safe in the knowledge that other, probably non-London people were helping…)
